As you probably know the United Church of Canada is celebrating its 100th Anniversary in 2025! What an amazing milestone. And God is not finished with us yet 😊.
To celebrate, a service is being held by the national church on June 8th in Newfoundland. A Cluster Worship Service is being hosted simultaneously here at Central United Church, hopefully bringing together Dunwich United, First United, Frome United, New Vision, Port Stanley United, Calvary United (Rodney), St. Andrew’s United, Talbotville United and Union United Churches, so everyone can join in the celebration!
Phil Hallman, our Music Director, has agreed to lead a Joint Choir and all invited churches are invited to join. Lori Hoffman, First’s Secretary/Treasurer, has agreed to coordinate the event.
The Program for the gathering will be as follows:
4:00 pm - Joint Potluck (in kitchen/gym) Each church will have a Potluck Coordinator who will organize with Lori as to what each church is bringing. Each church will have a list to hand in of who prepared what dish.
5:00 pm - Music in the Sanctuary
A musical time of choir singing, musical numbers from guest churches and a hymn sing of favorites.
5:30pm – Worship Service will begin
The format of the service will be provided by the UCC and will include the Joint Choir. The sermon from the St. John service will be live streamed to Central.
An offering will be received for Mission and Service.

“For such a time as this…” Esther 4:14
If there was ever a time to come together to celebrate and give thanks for the values of our church, values of compassion, inclusion and community mindedness, surely this is the time. As we face challenges at home and on the world scene, gathering in a spirit of neighbourliness and faith in a God who is with us and others by the Spirit is bound to encourage us and send us home with a spring in our step!
